Super duo “Goldfish” take the stage at Kirstenbosch at an additional concert in the Old Mutual Summer Sunset series. The concert has been specially organized by Old Mutual and Kirstenbosch as a fundraiser to send the annual Kirstenbosch-South Africa Chelsea Flower Show exhibit off to London in May and brings the highly successful season to a triumphant close.
Having seen full houses for almost all the concerts this special concert with “Goldfish” is bound to attract a huge following. Their New Year’s Eve appearance at the popular venue was a sell out and bringing them back for this last event will allow those who missed their previous appearance a chance to see them, as well as their many fans enjoying this second performance! With the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) having no official sponsor for the Chelsea Flower Show exhibit this additional concert will raise badly needed funds to send a South African exhibit to what is known as the floral “Olympics” – the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show from 19 to 23 May. Proceeds will go to this 33 year old tradition of showcasing South Africa’s plant diversity on this global platform.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.
Kirstenbosch grows only indigenous South African plants. The estate covers 528 hectares and supports a diverse fynbos flora and natural forest. The cultivated garden (36 hectares) displays collections of South African plants, particularly those from the winter rainfall region of the country. It was founded in 1913.
On Sundays during the summer months from December to March, musical sunset concerts are held on the lawns.
