Title:
Burlesque at Vaudeville
When:
16.02.2010
Where:
Vaudeville - Cape Town
Category:
Burlesque

Description

Performances are from Tuesdays to Saturdays

Mischievous mayhem, eye-candy and magical circus await at Vaudeville, the Mother City’s newest and hottest entertainment destination. Entering through the velvet curtains reveals another world of gaudy fantasy, spectacular costumes and sensational surprises. An outstanding burlesque show incorporates slick acts that feature top South African and international performers in a mesmerising multi- genre Vaudevillian experience. Bboys, acro-adagio dancers, a spectacular hula hoop fire act, vertical pole runners, aerial acrobats, tap dancers, quirky floor performers and more, are thrilling patrons nightly at the plush entertainment venue that opened mid December ‘09 to great acclaim. Irit Noble, well known to Capetonian audiences, compères the show, backed by the To Do Sisters and a quartet of very sexy showgirls. The outstanding theatrical team behind Vaudeville combines the creative talents of producers Will Hutton and Andrew Florenca of The Sunroom together with party architect Dirk Vervaeke as the art director.

Vaudeville is a 300-seater supper club venue that offers a spectacular performance together with a three-course dinner created by DISH Food & Social. Jinx provide some of the live music – a blend of circus Balkan and oompah. The Vaudeville venue in Cape Town has been conceptualised by Robert Sawyer and Tom Pearson-Adams of RSTPA Media (Pty) Ltd. Sawyer, with 25 years experience in hotels, restaurants and bars, is more qualified than most to embark on a project of this nature. Having successfully floated his UK based entertainment group ‘Po Na Na’ in the 1990’s Robert has since turned the once unknown hotel The Farinet in Switzerland’s Verbier into the world’s number one Après Ski venue and Vaudeville is his 100th venue opening. His business partner Tom Pearson-Adams comes with 15 years experience in and around the European music industry with numerous international broadcast and licensing credits including the first global Ministry Of Sound DVD and introducing the sales of the George V (Buddha Bar series) label to the UK. They are currently working on a number of European based projects and own the South African based book publishing company Outstanding 100. The venue also incorporates the popular Moroccan-themed Fez Bar and Club that has been successfully re-launched by the Vaudeville team.
